Cinderella, the third and largest production that O.A.K. Youth Theatre staged in 2017 at the Atterbury Theatre had an amazing 93% audience attendance.
This cast consisted of no less than 52 talented young artists whose ages ranged from 8-22 years.
The story of Cinderella is so well known globally. However, O.A.K. Youth Theatre’s production had a fresh South African approach to it where Cinderella’s caring mice came out to save the day; after having dealt with the very Afrikaans sewer rats as well as the glutinous palace mice.
The costumes were a treat for the eye, and many audience members were mesmerized by Cinderella’s change of costume right there on stage. It was literally a change from rags to ballgown within the blink of an eye… or two. The credit for this piece of artwork has to go to Heidi du Toit and her amazing team from Hollywood Costumes.
The highlight of this show was definitely the number of young talent exhibiting their individual talents on various performance levels.
